ALCHEMY...

Alchemy is the 'Art of Transformation', and traditionally the phrase is used to describe the transformation of lead, into gold.

With modern technologies it is now possible to change lead into gold, but frustratingly (for some), it is not cost effective.

So, the principles of transmutation do exist, and what is ordinary can be transformed into something special... and this essence of alchemy can be beautifully related to our own transformation, from the ordinary, into the special.

The alchemist's symbol is the caduceus, the staff intertwined with 2 serpents, often represented in chemist's shops and also associated with the medical profession, and this, with no co-incidence, is very similar to the manner in which the 2 channels, ida and pingala, entwine the central channel... For further information, see the post 'Body Energetics' (below this...)

Along the central channel are the 7 chakras, and according to some schools, each of the chakras has an association with an element, in the following order, from bottom to top... Lead, tin, iron, copper, mercury, sliver and gold, and it is at these points that the left and right channels entwine the central channel.

This parallel, and its understanding, pave the way for an inner transformation, from lead to gold, an upward path towards spirituality and enlightenment.

The attainment of gold in the personal alchemical transformation is the opening up of the physical body, the mind, and the subtle body, as an awakening, resulting in enlightenment.
