Spiritual Journeys - Spiritual TV - The Inner Journey
How do you show the inner journey, the inner transformations, the journey towards peace, contentment and enlightenment?
I have an idea as to how this might be done on TV, over 8 weeks.
Featuring trials, tribulations, upsets, breakdowns, winners, losers, tantrums, storm outs, tears, success, release, relief, healing, joy, peace and forgiveness.... A full gamut of experiences, just like my spiritual journey....
Each seeker embarks upon a 6 week intensive course of study and practice, with her/his weekly guru, and well... transforms (or not)
THE GURU'S CAVE
Week 1 - History and introduction to the spiritual path... and to the seekers and gurus...
Week 2 - The 6 'Seekers' enter the 6 'Caves' to visit the Gurus of the week (So in this week it will be the spiritual gurus), and then each guru has a 5 minute slot to convince the seeker that 'their' path is best for them.
In the Spiritual cave there are 6 gurus (say... Buddhist, Zen, Sufi, Kabbalah, Witch, Hare Krishna), each pitching their methods....
There will be 6 gurus of each of the following categories... 1) Spiritual 2) Exercise 3) Diet 4) Therapy 5) Divination 6) Workshops ....
And once chosen, a guru spends a week with their chosen 'seeker'.
Spiritual - Buddhist, Zen, Sufi, Kabbalah, Witch, Hare Krishna
Exercise - Yoga, Tai Chi, Judo, Chi Gung, Kung Fu, Pilates
Diet - Macrobiotic, Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw, Fruitarian, Freegan
Therapy - Reiki, Crystal healing, Shiatsu, Bowen Technique, Aromatherapy, Reflexology
Divination - Tarot, I Ching, Runes, Astrology, Scrying, Palmistry
Workshops - Drumming, 5 Rhythms, Singing, Angel, Chakras, Energy Healing
Week 8 - Analysis and debrief, of both progress by seekers, and views of the gurus'...
Over the 6 weeks, each of the 6 seekers chooses one of the pitches from each category, therefore each following a 6 step pathway of their choice.
So, for instance
Seeker A might take the 6 week path of.... Sufi (week 1), Pilates (week 2), Freegan (week 3), Reiki (week 4), Scrying (week 5), Singing (week 6)
Seeker B might take the path of Witch (week 1), Yoga (week 2) etc....
I feel it would be best if there was method, whereby each guru had a seeker each week, so the cameras could focus on each method - looking at the guru/disciple relationship... In effect, so no-one was left out.
6 Seekers, 6 individual pathways...
The seekers may be comprised of... A cynic, somone with a crisis of faith, a healer, a TV/junk food addict, a gardener, a soldier.
The show offers a chance of insight into how each tradition, system and method actually interacts, and as the guru works with each seeker, their methods are watched by the viewer, and the gurus may become kind of celebrities afterwards. I think they have to be unknowns initially, so there will be no preconceptions as to who they are.
Lots of opportunities for spin offs, books, etc....
But most importantly, is not just a cynical money/TV aspect, but the potential to initiate powerful and positive transformations within the seekers lives, and as a result creating an outward ripple effect into the lives of the viewer, by shedding light on what might have been rather obscure and arcane practices and paths.
Well, what do you think.... The categories and ideas (and the timing/logistics of each episode) are a rough draft, that needs sharpening up I know, but I just wanted to share this, and see what happens... Throwing it out into the universe.
Love!
